The main feature that is current throughout my work is movement. This is an important aspect in my jewellery and gives it a kinetic interactive quality which is playful and wearable.
I get my inspiration from roller coaster and fairground rides which for me provide many interesting visual characteristics such as the looping twisting structures, the people on the rides, colour and movement. I use these elements to try and create something that is fun to wear and tactile.
All my pieces are rings which relate to the movement theme through everyday movements of the hand which cause the jewellery to move freely. The materials I use comprise of sterling silver and Perspex plastic with coloured designs transferred on to the Perspex. I assemble the rings using traditional ring making and jewellery techniques such as forming, piercing, soldering and riveting.
